An
often overlooked
species the Lamarck
angelfish is usually
offered for sale
as a small female
specimen. Large males
such as the specimen
shown here are seldom
sold but
females, given time
and space, will change
into males. The
specimen shown here
was a large female
until its aquarium
was changed and then
within a matter
of 2-3 weeks had
undergone the pattern
and physical transformation
into a male specimen.
Note
the long tail filaments,
black
pelvic fins
and hortizonal
banding on the body.
Offer
particulate food
such as brine shrimp
and mysis for this
planktonivore but
also a lettuce
clip full of algae.
