This pocket battleship of a fish
is often available when very small- perhaps
2cm or so. Even at this size the fireball is
a robust fish and will settle well into an aquarium
existence. However, be warned that this little
chap can become highly territorial even towards
fish much larger than itself so what initially
seems like a fish suitable for smaller aquaria
often turns out to be suited to much larger
aquaria.
However, in a suitably sized system
it will prove hardy and long lived and rewards
the aquarist with beautiful colours and a great
personality. Offer dried algae on a lettuce
clip and a variety of flaked and frozen foods.
