Longnose Butterflyfish

Forcipiger flavissimus

Profile notes:

This striking fish is often overlooked by aquarists who assume that it will munch on their corals. This is unlikley to be the case but it will nibble tubeworms and similar species. The long "nose" , or snout is actually to enable this fish to poke between coral heads and locate small crustaceans and worms upon which it feeds.

Like many butterflyfish it does not carry much bodyweight and needs to be fed regularly on meaty foods. Enriched brine shrimp is a minimum requirement whether purchase pre-enhanced or you supplement it yourself.
