Sometimes referred to as the longfin
sailfin tang due to the elongated dorsal and
ventral fins present in young juveniles. These
become proportionately shorter as the fish grows.
In common with the similar-looking
Indian Ocean sailfin tang it grows large - to
the size of a dinner plate and so it needs plenty
of space in the long term and is also available
when very small.
The good news is that this is
a robust fish even as a juvenile but provide
plenty of dried algae (nori) and ensure that
they are not "pinched" in the area
between the pelvic fins and snout.
