The Indian Ocean "version"
of the Kole or Kola tang from Hawaii this wonderful
fish is often overlooked but proves highly useful
in a live rock based system for the removal
of detritus and algae which it brushes from
the rock with its hair-like teeth.
Bristletooth tangs compiment then
grazing activities of tangs from the genus Zebrasoma
and they can be stocked simultaneously to minimise
territoriality. Despite their ability to supplement
their diet through naturally occuring foodstuffs
in a reef aquarium they should feed readily
on smaller, meaty particulate foods- brine shrimp
is good with a mixture of enhancements such
as with spirulina, omega 3, etc.
