An exquisite beauty from the Sea
of Cortez (Gulf of California) this highly prized
and expensive species is becoming more available
over the past few months after a long spell
where it was not being imported at all.
The
good news with this
species is that it
appears
hardy and long
lived provided it
is given space in
which to dig its
burrows- provide
at least
5cm of sand and
rubble, more is better
but can be simulated
by prudent use of
plastic saltwater
safe piping around
wnd in which the
jawfish
will live. ensure
specimens are feeding
before purchase (ours
will be).
They
should readily
accept most meaty
foods at first
inclduing mysis and
brine shrimp.
