Another "sand sifting"
or sand shifting goby belonging to the Genus
Valencinnea. Appears to be a little more reluctant
to swim into open water when sifting sand and
so is less likely to drop sand onto corals or
other sessile invertebrates.
Many
of the genus are
thought to harbour
internal parasites
when
imported as they
begin to show signs
of emaciation after
a few weeks in a
new aquarium. However,
many appear to be
provided with insufficient
food and so waste
away over time. This
is just
one of the most
important considerations
when considering
the purchase of this
species.
