Settled specimens of this partner-goby
(pair it with shrimp such as the tiger pistol
shrimp Alpheus bellulus) exhibit marvellous,
vibrant colours. Although a deep sand bed is
not necessary for long term success with this
goby it needs somewhere that it can set up home
and is best housed with a pistol shrimp that
will excavate a tunnel system in which the goby
lives.
The
goby provides the
watchful eyes for
the myopic shrimp
and the shrimp excavates
tirelessly
as safe refuge
for them both. Husbandry
is farily straightforward.
Offer meaty particulate
foods
to begin with such
as mysis and/or brine
shrimp and watch
out, this fish jumps
when alarmed.
