This diminutive species may resemble
a hawkfish in both behaviour and appearance
but it is actually more closely related to the
flag basslets known as anthias.
The
small maximum size
of this species (5-6cm)
makes them ideal
for inclusion in
even the most modestly
proportioned systems,
they are largely "reef safe" and
enjoy eating a variety
of meaty foods. Once
ferociously expensive
they are now more
affordable.
