Another species of Red Sea dottyback
that is wonderful to care for in the home aquarium.
Be aware that any dottyback can show aggression
towards similar species and can become territorial
but as many species, including this one, are
now available as tank raised specimens aggression
is thought to be lessened when compared with
their wild counterparts.
Pairs
can be formed by
purchasing two juvenile
individuals and allowing
them to differentiate
themselves. Dottybacks
are small predators
that will readily
consume
anything that is
small enough to fit
into their mouths-
including ornamental
shrimp (particularly
vulnerable when moulting)
and small gobies.
