Often
mistakenly called
the dutoiti dottyback
(in reference to
the similar yet often
more aggressive species
P.dutoiti) this species
of dottyback is
almost exclusively
available
as tank raised specimens
that are hardy and
long lived.
Specimens
in selling aquaria
are
often kept together
and show pale colouration.
However, most
aquarists report
that once
this
species has been
stocked into a
live rock based system
the growth rate
and
differentiation
into
male or male and
female (where two
individuals are
purchased) often
resulting in an
individual
doubling in size
in the first couple
of months.
Although
they may present
a threat to ornamental
shrimp this species
is coral-friendly
and will often
court and spawn
in the
home aquarium.
